Auction For A Cause

November 13th 2015
5:30 PM - 10:30 PM

The Uptown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg will hold their 22nd annual Auction for A Cause to benefit six nonprofit organizations.

Sponsored by JM Smith Corporation, the event will benefit the Bethlehem Center, The Haven, SAFE Homes-Rape Crisis Coalition, Spartanburg Humane Society, Upstate Family Resource Center and Camp Sertoma.

“All of these agencies go above and beyond to assist those who need their services and we are proud to work with them,” said Event Co-Chair, Caroline Phillips.

More than 400 items will be available in the silent and live auctions during the 5:30 to 10 p.m. event on Nov. 13 at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. Those items include vacations, electronics, gift certificates to restaurants, jewelry, paintings, personal and home accessories, and more.

Auctioneer Jerry A. Bruce will call the live auction. A 10 percent buyer’s premium will be added to all purchases.

According to Phillips, Auction for A Cause has “an amazing track record in that we have raised over a half million dollars for exceptionally worthy charities, with no end in sight.”

Last year’s auction, she said, raised close to $70,000.00 with all proceeds going back into the community.

“We are so thankful that even in these stressful times, the community support of this event has not waned. Our Sponsors and donors are generous, as always. Spartanburg is such a giving community,” Phillips said. “With their help, and the help of shoppers, we will again be able to continue granting wishes and giving back to the community.”

While giving to the community at Auction for a Cause, guests will have access to food samples from local eateries, catered food from choice vendors, free parking, door prizes, and live entertainment.

Those who attend the auction dressed as a pirate can earn additional door prize tickets.

Auction for a Cause tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased from participating agencies or any Uptown Sertoma Club member.

The Uptown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg meets from noon to 1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month at the Piedmont Club.

Club members volunteer time and money to local charities and facilitate “Auction for a Cause” which benefits six local non-profit organizations, as well as Camp Sertoma of SC, which provides summer camp experiences for speech and hearing impaired children and those who are economically disadvantaged.
